Plain English summary: Tidy collects only what it needs to work. We never sell your data, never use it for advertising, and never share it without your permission. Your cleaning habits are your business.

1. Who We Are

Tidy ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Tidy mobile application and the website at tidyapp.me. We are the data controller for personal information collected through our services. You can reach us at privacy@tidyapp.me.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account information: Email address and display name when you create an account or sign in with Google.
  • App content: Room names, task names, cleaning schedules, and household member information you enter into the app.
  • Communications: Messages you send to our support team.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: Task completion events, streak data, and feature usage — used only to improve your in-app experience.
  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and crash reporting.
  • Subscription status: Whether you have an active Free, Plus, or Family subscription — managed through RevenueCat.

Information we do NOT collect

  • Location data
  • Photos or camera access
  • Contacts or address book
  • Microphone or audio
  • Payment card details (handled entirely by Google Play / Apple App Store)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • ✓To provide the service: Store your tasks, rooms, and schedules so they persist across sessions and devices.
  • ✓To manage your account: Authenticate you and maintain your session securely.
  • ✓To manage subscriptions: Verify your subscription tier and unlock features accordingly.
  • ✓To send notifications: Task reminders and streak alerts, only if you've granted permission.
  • ✓To improve the app: Understand which features are used most so we can improve them.
  • ✓To respond to support requests: If you contact us, we use the information you provide to assist you.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party services to operate Tidy. Each is bound by confidentiality agreements and data processing agreements:

  • Supabase — database and authentication. Your app data is stored in Supabase's encrypted cloud infrastructure. Privacy Policy

  • Google — if you sign in with Google, Google shares your email and name with us per your Google account settings. Privacy Policy

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Tidy, our users, or the public.

Business Transfers

If Tidy is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before any such transfer and you will have the option to delete your account.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it for a longer period. Anonymized, aggregated data (e.g., total tasks completed across the platform) may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify you.

6. Security

We take security seriously. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Supabase's row-level security to ensure users can only access their own data. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. That said, no system is 100% secure — if you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at privacy@tidyapp.me.

7. Children's Privacy

Tidy is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Family plan allows household members to manage tasks together, but account creation requires users to be 13 or older. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at privacy@tidyapp.me and we will delete the account promptly.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of notifications: Disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tidyapp.me. We will respond within 30 days.

California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information is collected, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell personal information). EEA/UK residents (GDPR): Our lawful basis for processing is contract performance (to provide the service) and legitimate interests (to improve the app). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Cookies and Tracking

The Tidy mobile app does not use cookies. The tidyapp.me website uses no tracking cookies or third-party analytics. We do not use advertising trackers of any kind.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. Your continued use of Tidy after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
